Fordham

Back-to-back PL champs 2016 and 2017.... but need to get back to relevance in the national FCS scene.

So who do we beat? Bucknell and Lafayette?
It is clear that Joe Sterrett needs to resign at end of December. Looks like Gilmore will be here through end of season. Pressure has to be put on President of Lehigh that NOW is the time. This gives all of December to salvage getting a Head Coach and possibly attracting his own recruits. Lehigh has declined for many years with quality of professors, academic citations, number of top tier employers recruiting on campus, research dollars, research output and the metrics of declining competitiveness of majors in national rankings. The number of Lehigh PhD is at a dearth level. Then throw in just a few sports teams that are capable of national level competitiveness, there needs to be pressure put on this new President by us the alumni. The status quo is not acceptable. It is utterly embarrassing.

Can we trade Gilmore's contract for Cecchini's and make him the OC, and operate without a HC?

On a more serious note, one guy who it turns out we're really missing at LU is Andy Marino, the OL/TE coach 2014-17 under OC Drew Folmar, when our O -- passing and running -- was among the best in FCS. He has been reunited with Folmar at Elon.

Could either of these guys legitimately be a target for an HC job at LU?

Folmar should have been a candidate back in 2018/19 imo. He had the qualifications given his successful stint as Kutztown's head coach. He was an excellent replacement for Cecchini! Coen knew how to attract and develop assistants. At this level you want a bit of a "revolving door" of assistants. Especially at the positional level....

Only Fordham has given up more passing yards than Lehigh in FCS football.

Defensive genius he is.

I was on sight...needed a couple of days to cool off. On defense we played press man on the outside in 2nd half. We didn't try to keep everything in front of us and make them work to go down field. It's ok to play 15 yards off with a QB like that hence the 50 yard bombs. I think the front 7 played great and kept us in game. Can we pull it together by Holy Cross in a month assuming a win at home to Bucknell? I don't know...

Maybe a win over Cornell & Colgate to finish 5-6 which is continuous improvement year over year.

Next year becomes the return to winning football at Lehigh.

It took all of three plays at the beginning of the second half for Fordham to retake the lead.

Even if that’s true, it would take 5-6 years in total to have a winning season? How many more to compete for a league title?

While I appreciate the optimism, this seems to gloss over a glaring and large issue.

Interesting quotes from the QB regarding the process. This "process" line is really getting tiresome and is clearly being fed to these kids by the staff.

I am sure Perri is a good kid and is certainly working hard to be at his best. That said, it is time to let the freshman get some experience. The league title is out of reach, winning record out of reach....nothing left to play for this year. Perri was 19 of 46 for 185 against the worst passing defense in FCS football. G'town threw for 400, by comparison.

Assuming there will be major change come November, let's see what the young kid can do.

Rewatched the game. Rather painful. :x
We knew Ram O has centered on a big play offense. 2ndary shut down leading WR but the other 2 were rarely challenged or stopped.Dunno whether the scheme or just more misreads by DBs.
Perri's pass stats were indeed bad. A couple of drops but hevwascrarely able to get a clean pass off all game.Pass blocking is at best spotty.
No excuses for how our team has performed . Inconsistent with just so many mistakes every week.
Some perspective tho on who we lost to.

Nova. #17
UR. #21
Rams. #22
MU. 4-2. avg. 41 pts/game
PU. 4-0
