Fordham

Back-to-back PL champs 2016 and 2017.... but need to get back to relevance in the national FCS scene.

G'town QB threw for 400 vs the Rams and they put up 38 points. In the last three years, G'town scored more than that once...43 vs Marist.

More interesting will be if Lehigh can pressure Fordham QB into some mistakes.
I called this one. What a dope.

“ I thought we moved the ball a lot better on offense today than we did last week," Gilmore said. "We had 24 first downs today which is a far cry from where we were last week so we made a huge improvement and we actually converted a couple of fourth downs and we got in the end zone."

The offense scored only 14 points. The defense gave up over 600 freakin yards!!! At least he went for it on fourth down...

600 yards… must be a record. So much for Gilmore’s defense prowess.

Sterrett is completely phoning it in to leave this guy in charge.

If you think this was bad, wait until Holy Cross. 6-0 with two Ivy wins and a 37-31 victory over FBS Buffalo. And this week against Bucknell, 57-0. Basketball can't come soon enough.....

Maybe Chechini will be available this week to replace Brinson as OC. He has had much worst run at Bucknell than Gilmore.

Maybe Gilmore can finish out his contract as DC & Higgins can come back as Head Coach to end his career where he started.

The only part I like about your Post is Higgins returning.

Why would you want anything to do with this loser/clown TG?

A better DC? The LU defense is a porous sieve

Maybe perhaps both Gilmore & Chechini are both simply beyond their level of competency as both were very strong OC & DC at Lehigh if you recall.

Are you all willing to put up the money to bring Higgins back to finish his career at Lehigh?

Less than 3 weeks to Wrestle offs!!!!

Are we willing to put up the money? Doesn’t seem like other PL programs are going around “hat in hand” to pay for a decent football coach. It’s in the budget. FFS how much more do you want parents to pay for a non-Ivy institution? 70-75k not enough to fund the position of head football coach?
The problem is that we’re not able to attract good football recruits. Why? Well I have to believe our practice facilities stand up OK considering the Eagles trained there. The stadium? It would be nice to have lights but if our stadium lags other PL teams it is t by much.
So if it’s not the stadium and it’s not the facilities, maybe the coach is a dud…..hmmmm…..seems right. Recent results are terrible and the way forward doesn’t look much better at all. Maybe you come to Lehigh if it’s the only offer you get, but if you have another, or several others, it seems we’re not the choice of the better kids anymore.
So to answer your question directly, NO, I’m not willing to put up a dime for this program. It’s poorly run and it shows. That goes right to the top folks. Time to start over or stop wasting university resources on a black hole and just go D2. Have a feeling Lafayette would gladly do the same to keep the rivalry alive and stop draining their resources as well.

100% agree except going down a division. Others made the point that HC and Fordham have turned around their programs and Lehigh can as well. It’s true we may never be able to compete with some of these larger D1-AA teams and a national championship may be permanently out of reach. But let’s be honest- that’s true of all nearly all schools in all divisions. How many different schools win national championships in D1? Or even D3?

We can get back to winning PL titles and making the playoffs with some consistency. We can be competitive and candidly, that’s all we actually need to be. Dropping to a lower division has (I think), a negative impact on the school that goes beyond athletics. Competing against other well known DAA schools, particularly the Ivies is good for Lehigh. It adds visibility; name recognition and a cache that lower divisions simply don’t have. There are exceptions obviously…. But generally speaking, I think this is true.

Start over… but don’t give up.

“Hail to thee, our Alma Mater! Hail, all Hail, Lehigh!”
