Cahil's Coaching staff

Back-to-back PL champs 2016 and 2017.... but need to get back to relevance in the national FCS scene.

Looks like Kevin is casting a very wide net to see who is in the market.
Smart to comparison shop against what he has now on staff.
It also sends the current staff a message...get better or get out.

It's also typical for new head coaches to take a coach or 2 with him from his former team, so watch out for some Yale folks coming with him.

As he alluded to in the presser, he has some names in mind. Even if he didn't, the posted is very likely required by school policy.

We already know that Brisson resigned a couple weeks ago and will be the new OC at Shippensburg. I suspect Cahill will be most focused on the OC/QB coach situation. Based upon his knowledge of the new guy they brought in from UConn last year and how much of a role he played in this year's offense, will determine whether he remains. The bulk, if not the entirety off he offense could turnover. All depends on how Cahill's interviews and reviews with the O staff go.

As for defense, it is my understanding DC Kashurba is very well liked by the players, has great rapport with the other coaches, and is a very good communicator. There were a few obvious failures by the defense this year, mostly in the 'blown coverage' area where inexplicably we had no one covering an opponent's receiver leading to monster completions and TDs. However, we played aggressively, had decent pressure (most of the time) and excellent LB play. Secondary, while getting burned at times, has also become more athletic over the past few years, allowing us to go to man coverage more often than in the past. Our secondary coach, Jones, is a Lehigh grad and was good DB in his own right. I don't have a feel as much for the OL coaching. We should have some pretty good returning OL next year..a number of frosh got extensive PT this year. The DL coach, I think Fetterman, is well liked by the players and has significant Lehigh roots that help in such transitions.

Special Teams is a huge need. We haven't had an ST coach in several years. Its as if parts of ST's were parceled out to various assistants. PK game was horribly erratic and cost of three wins IMO. 1/3 of all games are won/lost on STs. IF we're going to be a serious contender, again, not only in the PL but to be competitive in the larger FCS picture, this area has to improve.

The ads for assts were published yesterday.
Agree overall on O staff needing a total redo. DL and LBs were very good units. Coach K and Fetterman worth keeping. 2ndary flawed. The repeated failures to maintain deep coverages is inexcusable and must be fixed . Not sure who ran that circus. Q would seem to be an ideal choice given his career and stellar recruiting He may be a luxury we cannot afford if D s don't improve.

Elon (FCS - NC): Alex Stadler, who has recently served as offensive line coach at Lehigh (FCS - PA) and Towson (FCS - MD), has accepted the offensive line job on Tony Trisciani's staff.

Per his twitter bio, Mark McMaster is WR coach, formerly TE coach at Yale. As posted with Nagy, found him on database.
