PL Coaching Changes

Post by StablerBum » Mon Mar 13, 2023 5:31 pm

I can't remember a PL off-season with so much turnover. No less that 4 league coaches have been fired for poor performance, AU, Bucknell, HC, and Army.

Another coach, Jordan at Lafayette, is on admin leave and in limbo. A sixth, Langel at Colgate will be a target for other schools given his success.

Reed still has his job, but more than half the league could turn over this off-season. Never seen anything like it.

Yeah, it’s crazy this year. Interested to see the new hires, especially Bucknell and HC, and really interested to see how high Langel goes.

Langel likely to go chasing the brass ring. Jordan really a curiosity. Surprised Laugh hired him in first place. Fairly thin coaching experience, and based upon the talked about problems relating to his ability as a head coach, it shows a lot. I was very surprised to see his antics on the sideline when we played the Leotards at Stabler. O'Hanlon was a class guy. In today's world, one does not get away with being a 'young' Bobby Knight, especially at a Patriot League school.

I wonder if the story there will ever come out. Bucknell also hired former player John Griffin who has a great reputation, and HC hired former Bucknell HC Dave Paulsen. Both seem like very good hires on paper.

Paulsen in partial won 4 regular season PL championships in 7 years. Last I checked Reed won only one regular season championship in 14 years. Would expect HC to regain a spot at the top of the league in short order. Likely Bucknell as well.

McGarvey has a tremendous resume and is a great hire. Griffin does not have NCAA head coaching experience but will no doubt be an upgrade from the previous coaching situation. And we know Paulson very well.

Hopefully we don't get relegated to a lower league................

IMHO promotion/relegation would really HELP college sports.
