Re: One step forward
Down 30-12 at home against Lafayette with almost 10 left in the half.
Ugh.
33-12 and this Lafayette team is not an offensive powerhouse. They are hitting 3s tonight.

Re: One step forward
Then it became the best win of the year.
Re: One step forward
Unreal win!! Got to give the kids and the coaches for regrouping and showing a lot of fight. They showed in the second half tonight what they are capable of. Hopefully, it triggers a nice sprint down the stretch.
Re: One step forward
This game was surreal for me.
There was a really nice crowd there tonight. I'll guess perhaps 1,700 to 2,000. Lafayette has a really nice team and seemingly couldn't miss in the 1st half. Lehigh, on the other hand, played like there was no plan.
Brett must have felt this was a teaching moment. Lehigh played most of the 2nd half using 2 freshmen, 2 walkons, Parolin and Higgins. Knostman got a few minutes. I don't believe T-W-S, Momah, Whitlock or Sinclair played at all in the 2nd half. Their big guys got in foul trouble and Lehigh just kept pounding it there until they fouled out and then kept going with Parolin and Cebuchar who were much taller than anyone Lafayette could put out there. Lehigh also utilized a trapping defense a lot in the second half and created a bunch of TOs off of it.
The crowd was a big factor in the 2nd half. I'm not sure we will see a similar result when we play in Easton. But tonight I'll savor the win. It has been a pretty good weekend for Lehigh sports.

Sounds like the Dr. stirred the pot a little bit with just the right mix of ingredients, and sent a couple of thousand home with a good taste in its mouth - at least for one night.
Re: One step forward
Lafayette made six of its first seven 3s. Once they stopped hitting them, Lehigh played steadily to get back in.
Re: One step forward
Noted: But IMHO, shooting was never Lafayette's problem last night. They made 56% of their shots, including 43.5% from the 3. The biggest difference in this game was the FT line, where Lehigh made 28 of 33 and Lafayette only attempted 14 FT (made 10). Not only was that an 18 point swing but both big men fouled out. We suddenly had the height advantage and we played to that.
I just don't expect that scenario to play out again in Easton. Lafayette has a really nice, disciplined team that has some height and can shoot really well.
It was nice having Higgins back.
