>>>>>>>>>>Info also mentioned in a Santoro interview posted on twitter where the interviewer references McGonagle’s good start to the season but not being available today and Santoro mentioning that he needs to get healthy.

A few posters should have at least waited until Santoro’s post match interview before complaining we’ll never know why McGonagle didn’t wrestle today.

No mention, obviously, of what the injury might be.

Lehigh seldom forfeits weights or protects records by not facing highly ranked guys. In fact, the coaches believe in the old adage you learn more from a loss. Santoro specifically schedules elite teams so guys wrestle top opponents——not hide from them.

Side notes: I really liked the way Beard responded to a tough loss with 2 ranked wins, Manzona upsetting a #11 guy, Humphreys physically handling a #9 opponent and some strong rides by Bailey, McGonagle, Taylor as well as Humphreys and Beard.

With sophomore Connor McGonagle and senior Jaret Lane both banged up following Monday's duals, the Mountain Hawks had to forfeit 133.
Complainers lol…

When was the last time you read a “official” press release from a team that said and I quote “we chose to duck this match because it was in our wrestler’s best interests”

The team is a mixed bag at this point.
2 National Champion contenders. 1 R12 and still a lot of upside potential with others. It is definitely an upgraded team over the past few seasons. Graduate transfers next year for 157, 165, 174, 184?

125 I am in Lane camp. His upside is that he can ride and pin. Makes him dangerous at EIWA/NCAA. #26/#39 wrestlestat. Underated. R12 low probability

133 #23 McGonagle Fair ranking by wrestlestat. R12 low probability

141 #44 Hines. Just don't think he is strong enough to be beating anyone regularly in the Top 30.

149 #22 Bryant (1-4) and #35 Brignola (3-2) R12 low probability. Neither. Brignola is more reliable on any given day. Like him to be EIWA starter.

157 #4 Humprheys Capable of beating anyone in this weightclass in the nation. Keep working on TDs. If he scores first, its going to be tough to stop him at NCAA.

165 #44/#46 Meyer/Frinzi Neither will be beating many in Top 30

174 #45 Lawrence/#64 Logan. Lawrence not getting enough top level talent, but is beating those he is wrestling. If either got it going, think either could be a Top 20 wrestler.

184 #20 Samuleson. Not ducking. Has wrestle 4 of Top 10. Has 2 close losses. Still R12 material. Outside AA chance. Probably needs some help with upsets.

197 #2 Beard. Not ducking. Capable of beating anyone. Samuleson having to face him in practice daily is good omen than Samuleson will get on a roll at some point.

285 #35 Jones/#47 Taylor/#143 Chakiff/#166 Moore/#166 Garcia. Still like Garcia to emerge.

Nothing against Rogers, but perhaps it would have made more sense to have added Crookham (who's signed up for Wilkes) to the long list of back-ups brought on the trip instead of pitchman Rogers. Or brought both. Unless he's injured again, of course; guess we'll see if he actually wrestles Wilkes tomorrow.

Use to be National duals only allowed 15 or 16 guys. Not the NOLA rules, but.....

Gavin Brown for Ohio State is a true freshman who has struggled so far this year (2-3), for all those who think MBIV should move up to 157 or 165 you could see in that match that his crazy strength for 149 isn't the same at 157......

All that said maybe he was dinged up going into the match and that's why he didn't seem as strong as usual....but would have to assume he was okay going into the match since we chose to sit other dinged wrestlers, plus we could have wrestled Humphreys at 157 and Herceg or Frinzi at 165......

Coaches make decisions and I'm fine with that, and Santoro is certainly one of the best....but blindly believing the reasons they put out there for their moves seems a bit naive and as fans I don't think questioning and discussing makes us "complainers".....
