Next year has the potential to be a very deep lineup when this year’s redshirts and incoming recruits are added.

There will be multiple, viable guys at 133 — but up and down the line up — probably not. Maybe good front line talent but typical of a normal LU team depth in terms of AA candidates.

I am a huge fan of Carter, he has looked really good and I think would have theoretical top 20 potential at 141! Only question is, could a bulked up Lopes, McG or heck, maybe Stanich, push it higher than that??

I agree, hard to know what “deep” means as presented. I typically think of it has having a bunch of great backups so if a few “starters” can’t wrestle the team would still be competitive in a dual. That’s rarely the case for Lehigh.

Yeah.
But I don’t even know what’s going on this year. Bailey was fun to watch at Penn State. But, where’s Hines? And what was going on at Oklahoma State?

Hines is ready to compete but was prevented from wrestling last-minute due to a skin infection... they only had ethan smith available as a backup. Presumably a one-time problem and he will be back at the next event. Under normal circumstances it should be Hines > Bailey > ??? I'd like to see McG back at 141 at least for the third spot.

To reach the quarter finals Zeigler only needs beat 7th seed Aaron Seidel, NLeb, Jr, 2 time state, 101-1. How the hell is Seidel only seeded 7th?

>>>>>>Nice weight class spread of seeded wrestlers at the Beast.

Per the questions on what does ‘ potential to be a very deep team’ mean:

Deep refers to weight class depth——not elite results at a given weight.

Having 3-4 guys at 125 this year is good depth at a weight some programs have trouble going two deep.

Lehigh has good depth at some weights this year, but noticeably thin at other weights.

Solid depth at a weight is a real plus———-provides lineup insurance in case of injuries and enables younger guys to redshirt.

>>>>>>>>> Really glad you explained that because not too many of us would known otherwise.

My question was more of a wake up call. Numbers at a weight don't mean jack squat if the talent level isn't there. Lehigh has depth this year at 125, 133, and 141.....several talented guys who can win at this level against good competition. LU has a number of guys at 149 but no real depth because no one has shown the ability to win consistently. That's true for several weights.

Lehigh, if healthy, will have a nice NCAA team this year....better than EIWA in my opinion.
