Interesting perception on what we see as 'facts' in sports, like wrestling. The only facts that are real are what has occurred on the mat. Everything else is a lot of opinion and emotion dressed up like facts. To paraphrase Justice Stewart's famous definition of pornography, 'It is difficult for me to define, but I know it when I see it.' We have all sorts of rankings by different 'experts' and formulas concocted to make the opinions some kind of metric. I understand that at the end of the day, there needs to be some kind of 'order' to the various weight classes, but that all it's good for..seeding. And even then many of us will be critical of the seeds. To me, a hand raised in the center of the mat is a fact and one's record says who you are. Everything else on this board and others is for 'shits and giggles'...and that's okay as long as we recognize what it is, ala Potter Stewart.

Was just texting the guy running Sam Cali. On the second day (at least for finals) the start at 138 and end at 132- Sam Cali's weight class.

Slowly taking away the things I love as I once knew them one by one is altering my life.
Lehigh wrestling (losing our national competitiveness because of the bullshit going on)
college football (see the bullshit reference above)
PGA golf (Saudi money and Greg F. Norman
NFL (lost me on the anthem kneeling never to return)
college and NBA hoops has turned into a no defense 3 pt shooting contest...awful

I take your greater point but honestly I am allocating far far less time to the above endeavors.

>>>>>> And I understand your greater point, but sports have never been what I base my life on, altered or otherwise. The quality of life in this country has diminished greatly since the internet and invention of the cell phone. It has made everything easier but the trade-off is a lower quality of life where personal face-to-face interaction is now unnecessary. Heck, you can't even apply for a job in person anymore.

If LU recruits a kid electronically, which I assume they do, then it better be FaceTime and not texts or emails. Better yet, get your a$$ in the car and drive out to see the recruit in person.

I don’t think the Ciasullis helped much.

I may be in the minority, but I believe cell phones and the internet have significantly improved our quality of life.

To stay on topic, I actually enjoy being able to watch Lehigh wrestling via internet streaming.

Oracle wrote: Thu Dec 28, 2023 11:05 am Hey, if Desmond wants PSU, let him go. We only want guys who want us. PSU can only put 10 on the mat at a time. And we should not compare ourselves to them -- very unfair. There are teams we will always lose to due to stipends, NIL and academics being less critical to the admission process. Power 5s have that advantage and all the bitching in the world isn't going to change it.

Pat has cobbled together a nice tournament team this year from cast-offs, transfers and under the radar recruits. Max Brignola NJ 4th!! Ranked top 25. Pretty impressive. If it were me, I'd stop the whining and watch these guys develop. Some will, others won't. Our lives won't be altered either way.

edit: BTW, when a local kid doesn't list Lehigh as an official visit -- don't read anything into that. There is no doubt they have visited and know all about us. Why waste a visit? I'm sure Desmond was heavily recruited by Pat and Brad and knew our bonafides.
The problem is that not enough of these blue chip kids want us…. Therein lies the problem. So “we only want them if they want us” leaves wanting a lot of second rate kids.

Say again? I think you meant Rozynski at 144.

I assume, however, that we do want the 132 pound champ. If Griffin turns out to be this years starter at 149, the only state from which we will never have had a starter matriculate is Rhode Island --
- 132 pounds
2-David Perez, Ponaganset (RI) dec. 1-Carson Walsh, Pope John, 3-1

Billy Stuart was Connecticut, wasn't he?
