I didn't know if someone here announced that it was official. Thought I was helping.
You were, didn't mean it that way.....just seemed like a no brainer from what's left of the new conference's viewpoint
From my vantage point, even if we add a 12th team, the Conference will be about 1/3 smaller and will attract about 40% less fans. There will be no more than 4 bouts at each weight in any Championship round. There will be no more than 4 bouts per weight class in any consolation round.

So how big of an arena is truly necessary to host the event. They will likely only use 3 mats and need to accommodate 2,500-3,000 fans I am not familiar with all the venues but I believe there are many that fit that bill.

I'm not sure why Stabler was a given.

Stabler isn't a given. Binghamton, Hofstra, and Bucknell have all hosted recently. F&M hosted a 14-team EIWA tournament in 2008. American was going to bid before Covid came along.

We had a few occasions around 20 years ago when the EIWA was down to 13 teams; we always went with four mats (not sure about F&M in 2008). With 11 teams I'm sure three mats can be done.

I don't see any way that a wrestler would need to wrestle more than six times, so a one-day tournament is possible although I think it's unlikely. My guess is that we'll have one session on Day 1, with semis and finals on Day 2.

I expect we'll drop back to six medals per weight class, which means we'll go back to 12 points for 1st, 10 for 2nd, etc.

Nothing to do with mats and configurations….. has to do with EIWA trying to maintain respect in the wrestling community at large…… Lehigh hosting is their best bet to do that….. first year without Ivy’s having school’s like F& M, Bing, and so on host would seem like a mistake……

What is the fascination with mats, configuration and floor surface etc on here, it’s as i’ve said before very rain man like…..

Probably because the issue isn't number of mats or size, it's "Who can host the EIWAs now that Cornell, Penn, and Princeton won't be in the conference?". Making Stabler the permanent site isn't going to fly. Some of the posters are thinking out loud, realizing that the forest has to be made up of trees in a certain number and alignment.

If there are only 11 teams, it seems only 3 mats will be needed. That opens it up to virtually all members doesn't it?
A 1-day tournament/qualifier and less important than today's steeped in tradition EIWA. Start at 9 AM -- finals at 6 or 7. Saturday.

There, that's fixed.

Well going back to my original post that Lehigh should host and to me it's a no brainer, and for some reason that was immediately argued with "why would you assume that" , mat size, arena size, square footage yadayadayadayadayada.............to make it clear to the "engineers" and "rain men" that had zero to do with my comment.......I don't care who is "capable", and I never suggested Lehigh should be it's "permanent home".......

Just think it's an absolute no brainer that Lehigh (who is clearly now flagship of conference) should host the first "EIWA" tournament after the realignment........

Agree.

BTW, I gave up a long time ago bothering to read thru the minutae of mat size, seeding criteria et al.
