FWIW, Barraclaugh wrestled the entire 22-23 season at 157. However last year, he went 165-174. Growth spurt?

Re: Transfer portal
Not likely. Why cut weight if no path to being a starter?
Re: Transfer portal
So, according to Flo's preseason rankings (and I think they try to be accurate and not speculative with weights) they have Kasak at 157, Mesenbrink at 165, Haines at 174, Barr at 184 and Starocci at 197. I'm told that Haines is walking around at 195 and it was known that 157 was history but thought he and Mesenbrink might switch. Facundo just beat Haines at the OTT. Kasak and Haines both have "regular" redshirt years and does incoming first year Zach Ryder of course.
Re: Transfer portal
Levi Haines lost to Sheldon Seymour @106 5 years ago. He lost to Ryan Crookham twice at 126 4 years ago. Talk about growth spurts.DavidKla wrote: ↑Mon May 20, 2024 8:31 pmSo, according to Flo's preseason rankings (and I think they try to be accurate and not speculative with weights) they have Kasak at 157, Mesenbrink at 165, Haines at 174, Barr at 184 and Starocci at 197. Re: Transfer portal
Kasak last wrestled at 138lbs as junior in high school. That was 3 years ago. While not huge this year at 149 has been growing. Writing was on the wall to make lineup, 157 is the place to be. He will put the work in to be a full sized 157 by NCAA in 2025.
Re: Transfer portal
Ironically, 138 was the last weight that Ryan Crookham wrestled in high school too.
Due to PIAA restrictions in Ryan's junior year and Tyler forfeiting his season season to train with Taylor, I don't believe the 2 have ever wrestled each other in high school. I so wanted to see that and Cruz vs Lysek which also didn't happen until the NCAA finals.

WOW, what a pick-up, KYLE PARCO of ASU to Iowa! Still remember the ease at which he turned, and packed our own MB4 in home dual a few tears back.

Lysek = Lizak
Re: Transfer portal
My bad. Thanks for the correction
Re: Transfer portal
Official. Oklahoma State is the big winner of the transfer portal.
285 #2 Wyatt Henderson from Air Force Academy
174 #2 Dean Hamiti from Wisconsin
165 #7 Cam Amine from Michigan
157/165 #10 Caleb Fish from Michigan State. Will have to battle it out with #11 Teague Travis. Could be odd man out or possibly reconsidering transfer to Oklahoma State.
That is a lot of potential NCAA points for Oklahoma State.
The power of the portal cannot be ignored any longer.
