Re: Recruiting Coordinator
>>>>>> I know LVWC is technically separate from Lehigh—— but LVWC and NIL are intertwined with the overall wrestling program.
Alums/boosters raised the funds to endow wrestling scholarships, endow coaching positions, renovate Grace Hall, renovate the wrestling practice facility and provide annual giving, ticket sales, etc.
And alums/boosters also fund LVWC on the basis that LVWC supports and helps Lehigh wrestling.
NIL funding can also technically be separate from Lehigh University, but in reality all three components are inter-related and rely heavily on alum/booster funding.
Adding a recruiting coordinator is fine, but ultimately the coaches need to be heavily involved in recruiting and we need to be able to meet/exceed the recruiting/retention offers of competing schools

FloridaGuy states.."Adding a recruiting coordinator is fine, but ultimately the coaches need to be heavily involved in recruiting and we need to be able to meet/exceed the recruiting/retention offers of competing schools."
IMO the Coaches are already heavily involved in the recruiting effort, as it is part/parcel to their job!
I am NOT dis-illusioned to the point of thinking that on an annual basis we'll be able to contend with BIG-TEN packages, especially those from the heavy-hitters! Ain't gonna happen..

Re: Recruiting Coordinator
I agree that the team needs a recruiting coordinator. If it's a matter of money, the team can probably do without a director of operations ... which position the team was able to do without until a couple of years ago and can probably still do without. No offense to GQ intended. Just positing my opinion on the priorities.
Re: Recruiting Coordinator
Director of Operations is essential. Recruiting Coordinator is not but fans are supposing this position might shake things up. There's plenty of money. You get the right person there and it may just be a game changer. Jordan Wood's name was tossed around. From everything I've heard, he's a solid guy in all aspects. IMO, he would appeal to parents who would envision their son turning out like Jordan if he went to Lehigh.
Has to be someone who appeals to high school kids *and* parents.

Re: Recruiting Coordinator
Jordan Wood is a young man with a lot of class. Well spoken, confident, approachable, likable - and best of all, home grown. Knows the school, the academics, the coaches, the area - all the dynamics that would enter into a recruits and their parents decision making process.
Not sure if a recruiting coordinator is a necessity, but Jordan would be a great choice if the University goes that way.

Re: Recruiting Coordinator
Keep in mind administrative roles, such as Recruiting Coordinator or Director of Operations, are not permitted to coach athletes.JAD77 wrote: ↑Tue May 28, 2024 10:17 am Jordan Wood is a young man with a lot of class. Re: Recruiting Coordinator
Zach Rey does the majority of the recruiting.
