mookie has a knack for knowing stuff like this. They wouldn't go to the trouble of bringing him in if he didn't have a place in the line-up. Whether it's 174 or 184, either one works for Lehigh. If either CRogers or JTDavis can man 184 and take that next step, then the line-up is taking shape, isn't it? Then it would only be 149/157/165 where NCAA points scorers would be sought.

I don't think so in this case. Word is he's trying for 174. Pretty solid source. Don't ask.

I trust your sources.

Without any knowledge of Rylan's body structure, it just seems like a pretty drastic cut and I've seen no evidence that cutting weight has made him better so far.

Every wrestler is different and of course I wish him well in his effort. October can't come fast enough for this fan. In the meantime though, there is lacrosse and softball.

Not saying anyone is wrong because who knows but he hasn’t wrestled below 182 since his freshman year of high school? And he’s in his third year of college?

Man that’s hard to believe…..and Mookie tends to believe all Blair wrestlers are capable of anything……will be interesting

I agree.

But many upper weights in high school either don’t cut much or wrestle up. RRogers doesn’t appear very tall, so body type wise it may be doable. If Logan could get to 165 after winning his last state title was at 182, it’s not like we haven’t seen this recently. That was 6 years later.

We’ll see soon enough.

edit: making weight is not the thing - it’s being big and physical for the weight that counts.

Plus we have Schoppe coming back and he might be used at 174/184. And Jack Wilt if he adds horsepower is a guy with the right mindset.

Kevin Jackson wouldn't give Rogers a wrestle off at 184 lbs.

Rogers makes Logans cut look easy if true….Logan wrestled 160 as a freshman and 170 as a sophomore in high school……eventually finishing college at 165

Rogers wrestled 195 as a freshman and 182 as a sophomore and junior, then 195 as a senior….

High school
Fresh-195
Soph - 182
Junior- 182
Senior - 195

College
Fresh 184
Redshirt Fresh 184/197
Soph 174 ???

And i completely agree about the importance/difficulty of keeping strength up while cutting that much weight off……

A couple of thoughts:
We had an obvious gap in our lineup between 165-184. About 5 years ago, Pat had recruited 3 wrestlers I believe who were all rated in the top 50, all were between 160#-182# in HS, all were 2X state champs (2 in PA and the other in NY). If Lawrence, Logan and Ruth had performed even close to their potential at Lehigh, how good with this 2023-2024 team have been?

Does anyone remember a Lehigh upper weight who got significantly better by dropping weight? I can remember a few who moved up in weight but not down? My memory though isn't quite what it used to be.

Lawrence, Logan and Ruth...all busts albeit one drug related.
