Re: No way to spin it
Of course, that's 165. He did wrestle (and win, naturally) 174 one match that year, bumping up to secure a win...against Lehigh (then #11 at 174 Nate Brown).Spladle1989 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 24, 2021 8:41 am Kyle Dake 141-167 (and no I'm not a Cornell or Kyle Dake fan, though I do like Yianni, unless he's wrestling LU)..
Weight/weight class/lineup speculation is part of wrestling, always has been and always will be, get over it......

I'm not sure why this line
"Although not unheard of, Bryant wrestled 145 last year so a move all the way up to 165 could be a stretch."
got Denny bent out of shape. Bryant wrestled off at 145 recently. Bumping up 2 weight classes to battle with a healthy Thayne Lawrence is probably not in the cards but again, it's not unheard of.
As a spectator, I enjoyed the old days when wrestlers tended to move around more freely because all you needed to do was weigh in accordingly. Mike Frick was all over the lineup. I remember having discussions with Thad about all the options available in order to get the best matchups. Weight management was, ahem, less managed back then hence the changes.

Weird things happen. Army's EIWA entry at 184, Taylor Brown, wrestled at 157 last year and at 141 two years before that. He doesn't seem to be giving away size to his opponents this season. But it doesn't happen often, so it's best not to plan on it.
