Hofstra?

Post by Oracle » Wed Feb 17, 2021 10:27 am

Quietly put together a nice team. Book-ends at 125 and 285 are very good. The big guy is still developing and has a nice upside. Will be interesting to see how LIU splits the LI talent with HU moving forward -- or if they do.

Nothing new about it. The only new guy on their tournament team will be Greg Gaxiola, a transfer from Fresno State who qualified for NCAAs last year.

Not many colleges with wrestling in Westchester County, so LIU and Hofstra have some geographic reach for guys who want to stay Big Apple region local. With right coach, Hofstra (Ryan years), like Campbell (Kolat) has proven you can climb the ranks. Plenty of D1 teams within 200 miles for a restrictive travel budget. There is hope. Not many D1 programs in New England. Nassau Community College wrestling program as a feeder for those not academically eligible right away. Impressed what Rider has done with a younger coach, plus he should have good job security if previous coach is an example.
