Re: Hawk Talk #3
Sounds like McGonagle is good to go....
Re: Hawk Talk #3
Just bizarre how this program chooses to not share information. Is it any wonder that attendance and interest decline each and every year?
Re: Hawk Talk #3
Not sure the rest of you receive the You Tube videos featuring Coach Brands and several individual members of the team. Iowa is perhaps the gold standard for this kind of stuff. Coaches generally don't like media questions that ask the tough ones, but Brands turns it around and embraces it. Hey, he doesn't say much, but he's on camera 'accommodating' his fan base.
Re: Hawk Talk #3
To be fair, Iowa has sold out season tickets to Carver/Hawkeye Arena for 2 years in a row. It's the Big 10 and they are rankled #2.
This is why I'm saying Lehigh needs to make Wrestling #1. The other sports will not be harmed in any way. It'll just be business as usual for them. If the new AD wants to "be fair" then as Winston Churchill famously said "Communism is the equal sharing of misery."
It wouldn't take much to do this. If the changes ever took place, one thing the staff might consider is reducing the roster from low 40s to low 30s.

... not as bizarre as a fan who posts mostly negative 1-liners
... Lehigh Wrestling Match Notes are more ample than most
... Santoro does 5-7 videos/yr, 3-5 LWC events + 3-4 luncheons
... There are only 6-8 "LUWN" newsletters; none more prolific
p.s. What? No one citing Koll now? Brands avg att now 14,905/dual ...billion $ budget but he speaks no more

Re: Hawk Talk #3
>>>>>>Look at this from another direction:
Identify one sport as special and every recruit for football, softball, etc will hear a steady drumbeat from competing school coaches that they shouldn’t waste their time at Lehigh, because all Lehigh cares about is wrestling and every other sport is second fiddle.
Same issue when the AD is looking to hire a coach that other programs are interviewing.
Plus title nine issues will arise if you officially treat a men’s sport as special.
It works at Hopkins because every other sport is D-3.
The answer is for alumni/friends/supporters to separately raise money for an NIL that funnels funds to top level recruits and wrestlers.
We do this for LVWC to support freestyle wrestlers because it helps our existing team.
An effective NIL program and a couple additional admits thru admissions will enable us to compete better with the Power 5 competition.
