Well...

DC escapes w/ a 7-4 win... after getting a stepout pt... he nabs a TD (ankle pick) into an ankle lace w/ 2 turns.

Phew!

DC did not look sharp. The kid from Venzuela was more aggressive. Not understanding why no attacks from Cruz
until the end. Needs a Thad Turner slap on the a$$.

I was really hoping to find a gif file w/ Thad taking the hand, yelling some last min. instructions, and slapping the butt of a wrestler about to run onto the mat... no can find.
BUT...

How about this?

And I agree... DC missing some leg attacks.
He has the Canadian next in the semis, but even if he gets by him, I really can't see his chance of pulling off a win over Gilman.

Speaking of DC... he's wrestling on Mat B in the semis vs the Canadian right now.
(Gilman wrestling on Mat A now as well...)

Darian, down 4-0 AGAIN... comes back to defeat the Canadian 8-4... he'll go up against Gilman in the finals.

I’ve watched a lot of Darian’s freestyle bouts (and I’m sure many others on here have, too) and he always seems tentative for the first period, even against wrestlers who are obviously not as skilled or as quick as he is. I don’t get it. Lack of confidence? The man’s got the skills!

He does, especially the ankle lace.
He has come from behind twice today, but that won't do against tougher competition.
If anything, I WOULD like to see DC score against Gilman... at least one point.
We'll see after 5pm today...

I certainly hope he was wrestling with an injury because otherwise it was an embarrassing bout vs Gilman. Not one attempt was made.

The Cornell guys looked sharp, although Yianni was very fortunate to win his finals bout. Very fortunate.
