What local business is laying out $100,000 for a Lehigh wrestler?
Re: Article-15 Years under Santoro
I don't see it being huge; however, a kid with a "name" that could be useful for marketing could possibly get a deal in five figures for their career.

Re: Article-15 Years under Santoro
Hopefully the NCAA can get this NIL thing back under their wing as it will get out of control. Those thinking that wrestling won’t be impacted are naive. As Santoro outlined we have a good shot at some quality local kids but the big guys will be throwing NIL money around that could impact our ability to keep them local.
Several local studs are perfect fits for Lehigh & hopefully they will see that they can parley their great high school careers into maintaining their name recognition at the college level right her in the Valley.

>>>>>>>>>The NCAA has zero control over NIL———the Supreme Court ruled student athletes have the same freedom and rights to profit as any other student
lVWC apparently has funding for its on-going group of wrestlers/coaches . Plus LVWC is currently working to raise a $3 mm endowment in Strobel’s name and I’m encouraged that LVWC has the finances and was able to attract Labriola to its lineup.
A targeted NIL program would be significantly smaller than LVWC’s funding and directly impact landing key recruits.
A combination of 20 local business and/or alums each kicking in $5,000/yr would provide a nice $100,000 annual NIL kitty.
$100,000 annual NIL kitty would give 4-6 wrestlers a nice annual income and provide $75,000-$100,000 for a 5 yr Lehigh career. $200,000 annual NIL budget would cover an entire lineup.
I’ll start the NIL process by putting the mookster down for ten grand a year
The article confirmed that Lehigh can ‘stack’ financial Aid and athletic scholarship funds to make a 100% offer

>>>>>>>>>>>>>> This is Lehigh's 'secret sauce' to combat Cornell and other Ivies ability to give virtually unlimited aid if need is demonstrated. Thus, LU is, in effect, not bound by 9.9 targeted aid packages. I take it "financial aid" could take the form of need-based, academic-based, or minority-based. If accurate, this certainly levels the playing field somewhat. Florida Guy is spot on about NIL -- Lehigh needs to do something. My suggestion of Wrestling being the marquee sport ain't so dumb after all. Football would cost too much. Men's basketball could not parlay the Duke win into jack squat. Women's Softball doesn't have broad fan support. Wrestling makes the most sense and would be the easiest to find success with. Students will come back when the team returns to elite top 5-10 status. Take that to the bank.
