Top 20 Wrestlers - Feb 1 2024 Rankings

So how many weights and which wrestlers for Lehigh do we think will be in the Top 20 at their weight in the say Feb 1st 2024 rankings:

I'm guessing:

125 Seymour
133 Crookham
184 Rogers
197 Beard
285 Taylor

With Only Beard being Top 10

I think this is realistic at this point, maybe McGonagle instead of Crookham and maybe whichever it is gets/stays in Top 10....McGonagle currently #8 on Intermat and #6 on Flo but coming off injury and who knows if he will actually be starter, if it is Crookham will be a long climb to top 10 starting unranked.......if Hines is going at 141 I suppose he has a shot but his traditional inconsistency is too frustrating to definitively put him inside top 20.......same with Logan but at 165 we'll see.....149,157,174 has a long road whoever it is......Even Rogers will need to win the right matches and make sure he doesn't lose the wrong ones to move up into top 20 starting unranked.....

Hopefully proven wrong at a few weights but to me these are realistic expectations for that point in season......

Long climb? You have Nagao 12/3, Fix 12/8, and Arujau 1/13 --- shouldn't have to wait long. Win 1 of these 3 and keep the others respectable and you get ranked pretty quickly. And we just don't know if Hines will project as in the past or if his surge at NCAAs has elevated his confidence.

Yes a long climb as I don't see any of those as likely wins.....you are talking #1, #2, #3......according to Intermat and Flo.......for McGonagle wouldn't necessarily hurt his ranking, but for Crookham won't exactly shoot him up the charts just by keeping them close, unless as you say he wins one......best chance is probably Fix who in my opinion has ever so slightly declined as the last few years have played out, but I would say that is hopeful at best......

Lehigh has some weapons to fire but should any of the front-line guys get injured the drop-off is really steep. The best AA chances are 133, 197. All others are EIWA key contributors.

It's a wild dual meet season for our 133 starter. Fix handled Austin desanto just a couple months ago at final x, I don't see a loss there. Nagao might get surprised but thats a tall order too. We might very well be talking about 3 NCAA medalists.

If Crookham is our guy I'm not necessarily looking for rankings out of the gate. More likely he might surprise some people come the postseason. He will have some proving matches early on against Phillippi of Pitt and Colaiocco of Penn. That will really establish where he's at IMO.

I think Phillippi has finally used up all possible eligibility…..and will not be wrestling this year…..

Phillipi is done. He wrestled 7 seasons, had over 160 bouts, and is 26 years old.

Oh yes you are correct. Santaniello is ranked #30 by intermat currently (interestingly enough) so that will also be a good one to watch if it's Crookham.

Probably will wrestle NJ state champion Vinnie Santaniello in Pitt dual or his brother 2 time NJ state champion Anthony Santaniello…..

I agree with your top 20 assessment, and you comments regarding Hines. But he is ranked #11 per flo, and would be a big disappointment if he’s not in the top 20 in January.
