Griping

Post by Oracle » Tue Dec 12, 2023 10:52 am

Today's IM rankings came out and Lehigh is ranked 15th as a tournament team, led by #1 Ryan Crookham, #9 Michael Beard, #10 Nathan Taylor #11 Malyke Hines, and #26 Max Brignola. Half the team is positioned to qualify for NCAAs with maybe 1-2 others with a shot.

Good depth with several frosh electing to defer....Stanich, Repos, Schoppe ??

Solid kids coming in from class of '24, not super stars but solid D1 guys.

0-3 in duals to start the year against #16, #1, and #11.
7 champs at Princeton Open and some nice wins

Sheridan Tournament Friday before Christmas

EIWA portion of the schedule after that. Cornell, Penn, Navy, Army, Princeton are all formidable. End with Arizona State on the road -- then EIWAs and Nationals.

So why all the griping and grumbling? There are issues, but there are always issues. Are we fans or are we not?

It's not griping, it's just frustration with fixable issues that are never addressed. Topped off with piss poor communication that has been a constant for years.

Staying happy in my nursing home would be easier if Lehigh got their shit together.

>>>>>>>> They have it together and will do reasonably well this year when it's all said and done. Pat, Brad, Zach and Evan have taken chicken scheisse and are making it into chicken salad.

"Rumors of My Demise Have Been Greatly Exaggerated" sums up the present state of Lehigh Wrestling, despite the tales-of-woe from their legion of GRAY-HAIRED fans, and dismal results against some of the nation's finest.
We are a proud program, still well-respected, but in a state of FLUX at the moment!

In essence, lets keep things in perspective! 8-) Hopefully we rebound after the Holidays with some WINS against a few teams that I consider "soft-touches", while wrestling TOUGH against the Big-Red of Cornell, before dropping ANCHOR on the midshipmen of Navy!

Lack of SUPPORT from a wide-spectrum of campus academia is very dis-concerting, and has some merit, as pointed out repeatedly by many of you. Also the ability to recruit/retain the "blue-chipper", is gonna continue to be an up-hill battle against the likes of an Iowa, Penn Sate, and others who offer a better package of incentives to the young stud. :o

At my ripe-old-age I am not inclined to engage/debate over the value, or the negative impact of such recent concepts/innovations in our sport such as NIL, Transfer-Portal, rampant gambling, etc.,.. other than to say that as a sports PURIST,..I don't F'n like it! :? Standards in general, once considered sacrosanct, are being kicked to the curb, with even our favorite past-time, MLB,..being turned into a freakin' arcade game!

Oracle, I wish I were the half full kind of guy. Good for you.

But if expressions of reasonable frustration counts as griping to you and it’s that frustrating to you, that’s a YOU problem.

There’s always going to be room for improvement. But people here aren’t nitpicking (from what I read anyway).

Is being pollyannish the price of being a Lehigh fan? Def didn’t sign up for that. Never have for anything and not starting now.
