One thing’s for sure, wrestlers who watched the films are not going to try any cute moves against Nate. Cory Day and the Rider heavyweight tried to get cute and paid the price. I was worried about Griess, but Nate wrestled a solid match. Same with Fernandes who’s a lot better than I thought.

>>>>>>>> Fernandes was an ultra blue chip cu hwt recruit———- he basically dominated in NJ his last two hs years. I believe he was slowed by injuries and missed most of last year. cu, for whatever reason, doesn’t seem to develop hwts.
Nate’s trajectory has been a pleasure to watch ——— from his redshirt year thru the Navy match this year, be has a consistent record of defeating guys after losing to them earlier. A combination Nate and the coaches working together to keep imoroving.

As FL Guy points out, Fernandes was a pinning machine in high school -- NJ well-known for producing NCAA champion wrestlers. Cornell fans were *certain* this was the guy who would break their curse. He still might, but he seems to have been victim of the "freshman 15" or in his case "30" and most of it is located in his mid-section. If he trimmed down, IMO, he would be extremely dangerous. Great top game.
BTW, the EIWA has 9 guys in the Coach's Poll at 285. Wouldn't it be something if 285 qualified 9 and they had to wrestle to 9th place?

Yes, local product Fernandes from Hunterdon County waltzed through New Jersey and truly was an ultra blue chip. Gotta think Cornell is disappointed in his of development. Is he too small for college heavy’s?

Big Nate ( name used by Stanich in his Flo interview) strikes me as a guy who was on the younger side as a redshirt frosh and is still developing. Coaching staff also plays an important role.

Re: Nathan Taylor
I just watched Cory Day taking out Griess to win the dual with Navy. It’s pretty cool that Nate has separated from the other guys. Long way to go, but his season so far has been incredible.
Re: Nathan Taylor
I find this stat to be of some interest and yes I know the rules have changed but Nathan Taylor has 7 TF in his 2 + years at Lehigh. There have only been 7 TF since 2005-06 by all other Lehigh HWTs combined. I suspect that the time frame goes back much longer but the Lehigh statistics page only goes back that far.
Anyone care to guess who had those 7 TFs?
