Brackets 8pm Wednesday
Re: Brackets 8pm Wednesday
So the bottom line is the EIWA picked up another 9 bids. And that should hold true regardless of the time zone.
Re: Brackets 8pm Wednesday
Final CP and RPI rankings have been released. These factor into the seeding, so it's not meaningless data.

141 Hines CP 21, RPI 7
149 Griffin CP 28, RPI 10
157 Brignola CP 21, RPI 12
165 Logan CP 32, RPI 18
197 Beard CP 3, RPI 4
285 Taylor CP 8, RPI 3
125 Stanich CP 1, RPI 10
133 Crookham CP 1, RPI 3
141 Hines CP 21, RPI 7
149 Griffin CP 28, RPI 10
157 Brignola CP 21, RPI 12

Re: Brackets 8pm Wednesday
So 53 pre-allocated and 9 wild cards = 62 total slots? Really strong year for the EIWA. Really a shame it's the last year.
Re: Brackets 8pm Wednesday
Overall, these are very good RPI scores that should help some guys move to more favorable positions in the seeding. The main thing is their mental and physical state. I wouldn't be surprised to see one or more of Lehigh's lower-ranked qualifiers make a good run. The potential is there.
Re: Brackets 8pm Wednesday
As an example, Hines was 4th at EIWAs last year too; seeded 22nd at NCAAs, he lost his first bout to Clay Carlson, who finished 5th. He won three to make it to the blood round, then lost to Lachlan McNeil, who finished 4th. It can be done, but you've got to beat some guys you're not supposed to.The Kid wrote: ↑Wed Mar 13, 2024 12:13 pm Overall, these are very good RPI scores that should help some guys move to more favorable positions in the seeding. Yeah Hines even pinned a guy he lost to during the season. My favorite a few years back was Gordon Wolf. 32 seed who lost early then went on a run of wild and wooly bouts to reach the blood round. You could tell he was just letting it all fly and thoroughly enjoying every match.

One of my favs. A Wolfman bout was never dull. The Kid wrote: ↑Wed Mar 13, 2024 1:59 pm Yeah Hines even pinned a guy he lost to during the season. That’s for sure. I remember now, he barely won in pigtails, then lost in first round. Then tore through the consolations, never dull.

>>>>>>>Coaches ranking two Lehigh starters #1 plus Beard #3 in beyond anyone’s early season predictions.
Seeds usually end up reasonably close to the coaches rankings so I’ll continue with my positive outlook that annoys certain posters.
Great RPI numbers, all eight in the top 20 and six in the top 10. Speaks to strength of schedule and individual results.
Stanich #1 per coaches ranking but #3 per Flo and IM——-will be interesting to see how the 125 seeds shake out.
Wolfman one of my favorites, along with Weible———-who had a great comment on seeding——said there were two bad seeds in the hwt bracket his year——-the guy who faces Mocco in the 1st rd and and the guy who faces him. Have to like positive attitude.

Re: Brackets 8pm Wednesday
Back when Weibel was wrestling and I was doing several opens like ESU/PSU he made an interesting comment to me. In those two in particular, we would have 10 mats. So after we did a few rounds to balance the numbers left per weight (usually by quarters) we would keep all ten mats going and would then go 1 weight per mat. There was no mandated rest time between bouts yet. He loved it when you got to or past the semis as there would only be one or two bouts on your mat between bouts. He told me the other heavies couldn't keep up with him recovery-wise!
