Redshirting is not a fait accompli according to his interview shown on flo. Says "we haven't talked about it" and that Philly would be great because it's close to home and his family could come. Also talked about the team getting a trophy at Nationals.

Btw, flo has a small number of interviews with wrestlers from the Nationals on their site, yet 2 of them are with third and fifth place finishers .... both from Lehigh.

Wondering if somebody at flo with clout has a soft spot for Lehigh wrestling.

Luke Stanich had one whale of an NCAA tournament. He beat #16 Peterson, #7 Camacho, #5 Volk, #4 Ramos before dropping a bout to #10 Barnett. He was put in an untenable position at #2, but still managed to win 6 NCAA bouts.

That's impressive folks.

He sure did pal..

Now there's a kid who definitely "exceeded" expectations as a true Freshman, in such a short time coming out of H.S. :o

That weight class, 125LBS, was the proverbial TURKEY-SHOOT, and I guarantee you if we were to wrestle that weight class again this weekend, the RESULTS would be different!

>>>>>>> He also said he was ‘only’ a one time NJ champ and the coaching staff really helped him move up several levels since he came to Lehigh——- yet he still has plenty to improve.

I think Flo gives Lehigh some extra coverage because they stream Lehigh’s home matches and the EIWAs. All the media outlets need content which Lehigh provides————Crookham vs Vito and home duals when cu, psu, OkieSt etc visit Grace Hall are high level events.

Just rewatched his consi bout vs Ramos. Last year Ramos was a finalist who put Spencer Lee on his back twice and pinned him. Luke totally shut down his offense, and took it right to him - getting off the first shot of the bout less than 30 seconds in. This kid is fearless.

Stanich is all about finding a weightclass next year. Can he make the jump to 141? That is going up 16lbs when most guys are coming down 16lbs. A huge difference in strength and type of wrestling. Then he has to win the spot over Hines and Bailey.

It is hard to sit NCAA points, but the reality is he has to grow and show he can wrestle at that level up 2 weights. We shall see. Would rather see him wrestle next year than not.

As I posted, the talent level is close at 6 weights and no guarantee that this year's EIWA participant will be next years.

No need to win a spot. He's deferring. Just like Darian Cruz did after his true-frosh AA season.

You always have to win the spot! All Americans have sat their senior year. Likely he defers, but not a given. Lehigh needs his points. The biggest question is how much will he grow. Crookham can hold 133, so it looks like Stanich will have to grow into a 141. We shall see. Who would have thought that McGonagle would not have made the lineup this year? Things happen,
