No doubt Cornell has been doing super recruiting for quite a while. Then why have they lost 4 of the 5 last dual meets to LU?

No, but the 11 team EIWA will be a meat grinder.

Mookie makes a lot of sense that we are effectively ducking the major tournaments.
Same logic that the Ivies used to get out of EIWA to have an easy one day tournament for their athletes.

Cornell has a different approach than Lehigh, nothing more. I agree with Justafan 100% on where incoming recruits should spend their time --- and underclassmen LU is interested in can do whatever they like. Cornell is ahead of us because they have better wrestlers, not because of who attends the Fargo tournament. Our staff is building the way they want, not the way fans want. In this case, IMO, the only reason this is even a topic is because Fargo is happening now and is the new shiny thing to talk about.
BTW, did anyone see Henckel (wrestling for CT) got pretty much handled by Burton of New Jersey in the finals? Where's Burton headed?

Virginia Tech...who in my opinion has rapidly become our major competitor for talent.
Side note: Mason Ziegler wrestled 186 folkstyle high school bouts at Quakertown. Adding another30-40 freestyle bouts and the law of diminishing returns set in potentially to the point of negative returns.
Mason Beckman was 196-12 in high school alone. The body needs rest. Fargo starts with a bracket of 256. Winning would require one to go 8-0. How many bouts could one wrestle if they entered the consolations? Honest question.

Ziegler has also had some knee issues flare up which became an issue at some tournaments. Best thing for him will be a freshman year with limited competition like Crookham had.

>>>>> Thank you for the VA Tech answer. However, they passed us several years back in recruiting wars. They are very similar to NC State in the type of recruit they go after. Tall or tallish, rangy, solidly built. No fluff. Guys that will be hard to move around the mat. In short, guys with plenty of horsepower who have above average leverage.

Well, if you wrestle in Massachusetts, you do need the visibility of upsets out at FARGO. That kid's stock has risen dramatically. The reality is the best wrestlers now wrestle year round and high correlation of success at USA Wrestling major events and FARGO to how they do at NCAA.
Lehigh still recruiting to be in the 15 to 25 pack. We are not getting enough of the big dogs to elevate us to Top 10.
Crookham is the real deal. Stanich looks like he could be a 4x NCAA medalist, but no guarantee. Beard out of HS look like a lock for AA, but is struggling to crack into the Top 4. Taylor not there yet and no guarantee he gets to AA. There is again more talent at Heavy. He has a shot at being a 2x. Other than that, who do we have that emerges as an AA candidate in 2025?
Over a 5 year period, if the Top 2 at each weight, you have NCAA Top 10. We are not getting many Top 2 every year at each weight. LEHIGH has an uphill battle in recruiting to stay relevant. Getting Crookham helped a lot. Getting that NCAA Finals visibility helps in recruiting big time wrestlers. We shall see if Lehigh is trending up or trending down.
I think we are trending up. Now we need momentum of placing at 125 and 141 around Crookham at 133.
