One week away from the start of the 2024 Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational - the toughest in-season tournament of the collegiate wrestling season. Once again, no Lehigh.

We went under Strobel who tried to take LU the Big 10 route -- he had the talent. However, the schedule affords enough opportunity to find ranked opponents and improve RPI. Plus finals are coming up and we are not Okal St. academically. BTW, is Penn State going to Vegas?

>>>>>>>Cael has shown that attending the meat grinder mid season tourneys is not a pre-requisite for wrestling success.

Many coaches, as well as mookster, seem to think Cael is mis guided while psu continues to run rings around all those teams.

Not a strong historical presence for at the Cliff Keen. I've lived in Vegas since 2005. I only recall Lehigh coming out to Vegas once in that timeframe - in 2008 under Santoro.

Looking at past schedules, I see that Strobel took the team to Vegas twice - for the 2000 and 2001 tourneys. Strobel didn't bring what were eventually considered his best teams to Vegas.

I tend to AGREE with ya mookie,..get some "flying-time" in, and TREAT the kids to a competitive Holiday tournament. The CK next week, or the Scuffle to welcome in the NEW year.
"Hey,..Lehigh's here, great,..they have some good kids!",.. over-hearing one fan to another. 8-)

But wait mook,..15 of the top twenty-five teams are in Vegas, it's a grinder,.. and we might get BEAT-UP! :o And how many times must I remind ya,.. that the only tournament that really matters is..... ;)
(Hint: It's NOT the Sheridan!)

Other than PSU, and Cornell, SOFT epitomizes this schedule, but maybe we're deserving of such.

Well, the Sheridan field is pretty rugged.

If Lehigh had top 10 talent, I would agree that going to Vegas might help. But IMO the timing of the event does not lend itself to our academic schedule. It's poorly timed. It's a long season, no need to peak early.

In fact, no one should have to contend with Vegas and finals -- the fact that so many programs don't give it a second thought says a lot.

Somehow Navy, Harvard, Stanford, Cornell and Columbia don't seem too concerned. Finals aren't even a thing in many schools and if they exist at all students can opt for taking them online.
