You've made that point ad nauseam. They are two separate buckets of $$.FloridaGuy wrote: ↑Sun May 19, 2024 9:48 pm >>>>>>>>>Reply to MH:
As for overall funding——-Prioritize spending to attract/retain elite wrestlers rather than post grads via LVWC.

Come on now JAD, Captain Obvious may think there's still *one* person out there who hasn't been enlightened!
"Prioritize spending to attract/retain elite wrestlers" --- as if the staff isn't doing this now.
BTW, FL Guy isn't wrong with his over-all point.

Coleman Scott left a terrible recruiting class when he left Carolina. Only Koll Magic has turned lemons into lemonade.

Re: Coleman Scott
Explain why 'Alirez is unrealistic? He is a college grad. Needs a place that also has freestyle club at elite level. He likely would also have NYAC opportunity for funding also. Somebody is going to sign Alirez, it might as well be Lehigh.Oracle wrote: ↑Sun May 19, 2024 10:23 am So now we’re not only thinking (unrealistically) about signing guys like Alirez simply because he hits the portal — we’re extending that to out of work assistant coaches? Coleman Scott is Pennsylvania. He will find a home and would be a great addition to the coaching staff at LVWC if there is funding for additional coaches that could even land him.
LVWC did not have a good cycle for either US National Team or US Olympic Qualifier it needs to be upgraded with coaching talent and athletic talent. Luckily Cruz qualified for Puerto Rico.
Excuses are no longer acceptable within Lehigh, either the institution and the wrestling program get back to where they once were in the national lexicon or we just stay average. You have to go after these 5th year guys who are AA when they are available or you will be watching life the end of the pack like the 33rd car in the Indy 500.
Re: Coleman Scott
Explain why? Recent history.
All the AA grad students have signed with Power teams: NIL, NCAA $6000 Stipends, better quality work out partners, tougher conferences. Lehigh has exactly 1 AA transfer (not grad student) in Michael Beard because Cael recruited over him to get Dean.

With respect to LVWC wrestler performance—————I’m significantly more interested in the success of Lehigh University wrestlers. A ‘good cycle’ for LVWC ,imo, would be Lehigh producing more NCAA champs and AAs.

Re: Coleman Scott
Agree 100% with Florida Guy as well.
Re: Coleman Scott
While what Fl Guy posted may be true, it is not a strategy that is sustainable. Beard and Rogers were rarities. Nothing takes the place of solid initial recruiting. FL Guy has posted that as well in the past. His point is don’t ignore that in favor of some artificial cycle with the LVWC. Couldn’t agree more.
Also not saying the LVWC doesn’t have real value. It does. But it’s a support mechanism for the team.
