Power 5 to Pay Their Athletes
Re: Power 5 to Pay Their Athletes
College athletics? Hardly. Professionalism has entered the 'amateur' ranks. Total unadulterated bull$#it. If everyone is getting paid, then let them pay for their own tuition, R&B. No need for scholarships anymore.
This whole thing is a giant mess. It looks like the SCOTUS will have to hear a case and carve out an exception. Otherwise, the whole system will implode. IMO.

and the NCAA to pay-back DAMAGES? How was the athlete on scholarship F'in "damaged?"
Advent of NIL was the opening of PANDORA'S-BOX!
Just "ironing-out" the metrics/parameters of this new proposal is mind-boggling!
Have always abhorred ATHLETES, especially those in basketball/football using the college campus as a
"minor-league" complex, and exiting in a few years!

Denny used to say “9.9 is for suckers”. How quaint that sounds now. Nowadays “Full rides are for suckers” sounds more apropos.

"Has entered"?
Scholarships have made it that way for years -- even at Lehigh, where a kid gets what, a minimum of a $300K (I've lost track of tuition, room/board), plus perks for playing certain sports without having to pay tax on it?
Yes, it's worse than ever -- and I agree with your other points. It's a slippery slope.
Athlete-students, not student-athletes.

Re: Power 5 to Pay Their Athletes
Well remember, free college degrees are now a human right, so it stands to reason that some kind of compensation is required for any actual exertion.

Ahh,..the changing landscape of collegiate athletics! Don't like the smell-of-it, even with the logisitics yet to be determined,..as I see the NET-RESULT creating a bigger divide between the HAVES/HAVE-NOTS!
