Two of Lehigh’s Top Scorers Out For Year
Lehigh’s depth will be tested at the midfield after season-ending injuries to juniors John Sidorski (11G, 21A) and Justin Tiernan (19G, 4A) in the offseason. Sidorski was first-team All-Patriot League in 2021, and both were projected to lead Lehigh’s first line.
The roster has several converted attackmen who can play middie, though. Sophomore Scott Cole (11G, 2A) started at attack when Schelling was down in the NCAA Tournament. He’s a technically sound, complete athlete. Sophomore Quinn Armstrong (5G, 3A) has breakout potential. He played in the lefty attack spot a lot in the fall and put on muscle in the offseason; he’s built confidence heading into the spring.
A real shame.
Injuries
Re: Injuries
Ugh. A shame for the team and more so those two. Players cant be bubble wrapped in the off season Next men up.
Re: Injuries
Unfortunately the news gets worse for the Hawks before the season even starts. Starting attackman Cole Kirst suffered a miniscus tear and had surgery on Friday. He will be out 4-6 weeks. Both Sidorski and Tiernan are lost for the season with ACL injuries. Those three combined for 56 goals and 33 assists last year. Hard to see how they can replace those numbers. The defense is really going to have to step up and the pressure on Mikey to replicate last year’s record breaking system at the x just got more intense. You couldn’t script a worse preseason if you tried. Again, what a shame.
Re: Injuries
Good Lord.smh.
Meniscus tears tho can be rehabbed relatively quickly. A month sonds about right. I've had more than my share.over the years. Regaining confidence with the knee is usually the key factor to getting back in the game. Fingers crossed.
